My four-and-a-half year-old daughter LOVES this toy which she received from her grandparents for Christmas. When switched from 'Try Me' mode to 'On' the puppy performs many more actions and makes more sounds, as well as randomly making sounds and actions when left for a period of time. It then goes into sleep mode until touched again. I must say how impressed I am by how responsive the puppy is (unlike the Fur Real Newborns which require you to locate the button on the toy's back for anything to happen. Hard for a young child.) When tickled even lightly on the tummy the dog snuggles and nuzzles and makes chirpy loving sounds! Quite cute and I do find myself tickling it's tummy when my daughter's not around. It has a lovely face and is very soft to touch. My only gripe is that is could be a lot better padded so it feels more like a soft toy as when you hold it around its body all you can feel is the metal mechanical bar which makes it wriggle, roll over and generally move. My daughter loves dogs and loves the whole interactive looking-after-a-pet thing and this toy is ideal for such a child. She's played with it almost constantly since Christmas and it is by far her favourite toy - I've even had to find a basket and a blanket for it to sleep in! It is also way better value for money and has far more play value than the other Fur Real Newborn pets which my daughter received from Father Christmas which are far less responsive and interactive and don't perform half as many actions or sounds. If you can spare the money and your child likes this kind of thing then it's money very well spent!

Toy is well-priced, but it was for my eight-year-old daughter, so she has reviewed it thus: "I don't have a real dog, but I play with dogs from friends and at my granny's, and this puppy is very real. He wriggles like a real puppy and sounds like a real puppy, and it feels like holding a real puppy - he makes people jump! Very good when you don't have a dog. I would recommend him."

Great price on this product from Amazon and my four year old absolutely loves it. Top tip - make sure you switch it on to the correct position, because the demo position means much more limited response from the toy.
Fur Real - Not so Real

I purchased this toy for my 3 year old neice as she loved dogs so much. The toy does nothing but make noises and one movement, it is very rigid and hard inside which makes it difficult to be the type of toy that a child and cuddle, not worth the price tag and I wish I'd chosen another furry dog from the wide selection that Amazon have.

I purchased this for my 2 yr old son for Christmas. We were initally disappointed but then discovered we had it switched on TRY me mode. Once working correctly he has had hours of fun with it. In fact I don't know who loves it more me or him. Great interactive toy, with simple pressure points around body to make puppy move/bark. Big improvement on previous fur real products we have purchased.
