| I had this monitor for about 2 months before the sound feature completly died on it. The reception was fine until my husband sat next to it! in which case we'd loose all image and the sound light indicators went through the roof. On the other hand i did find the ability to watch my son who had a habit of rolling over and lying on his face very very very helpful. im now expecting my second and WILL DEFINATELY be getting a new, different video monitor. |
It's okay...

| Got this a while back and while the large screen is great for seeing where my baby has wriggled off to, the interference is pretty bad, meaning the sound has to go down if we decide to go on the wii or make a phone call! No major problems with it other than that but it does mean you have to sit with it as obviously the unit cannot be clipped onto a belt to go with you if you need leave the room. We're currently looking for another one that is more portable for this reason. |
Not wholly satisfactory

| We have used this video monitor for about 18 months in caring for our profoundly handicapped daughter who must be monitored throughout the 24 hours. We chose it mainly because of the large viewing screen as she is no longer a baby. The first monitor screen was replaced by the vendor when it began to fail to work while still under guarantee. In less than a year again, I purchased a second model via amazon because the first also ceased working but the night it arrived we found it too did not work. I telephoned the company in London who helpfully replaced it by a digital version which has a much smaller screen but with remote positioning control. I finally accepted the replacement in the hopes that it will prove more dependable. It is a pity about the large screen monitor proving so unreliable as the basic idea is just great. They all did also suffer from interference problems and a good deal of static sound interference, which we tolerated owing to the extent of our daughter's special needs but others may not find it so bearable. |
Invaluable. Definitely worth the money. Gives freedom and reassurance.

We bought this monitor because we had heard there were health risks linked to the DECT monitors and we therefore were only looking at analogue monitors. (Having originally bought the smaller, wireless DECT version before we researched the health risks.)
It has been fantastic and has given us far more freedom and flexibility than we could have realised. It has been integral in teaching our daughter good sleep habits, and has helped us make her more secure and independent.
Eg, We know when she is awake in the morning, as she now does not cry until she has been awake for sometimes up to an hour, and otherwise we'd be none the wiser.
We can relax knowing she's asleep in the evenings without having to have one ear listening out for any noises. Just a glance at the monitor is all that is needed.
Its also easier to work out whether noises are distress or just disgruntled movements, so we only need to go in and soothe her when its necessary (or to unhook a trapped leg or arm from the crib bars)
What really surpised us was that we actually prefer the bulkier monitor to the smaller DECT version as you can really see what is going on, from her facial expressions to the rise and fall of her stomach when she breathes.
We even used it when she was first playing in her playpen in the nursery and we would leave her for short periods to play on her own while preparing bottles, breakfast etc It meant that we could see if she started to get bored or tired and go up to interact with her before she started to cry.
The only downside to this monitor is the crackling interference associated with analogue monitors. However we have found that with adjustment we can usually get rid of most interference, and we dont use our microwave very often so that doesnt tend to be a problem.

For my first two children I had the normal baby monitor, no screen just a light and speaker to alert of noise. So endless trips up and down stairs to check all was well.
For my third I saw this in a baby magazine which had been featured as top product with load of industry awards.
It has a large monitor which shows a black and white picture. The size is great as you dont need to be right on top of it to see your child. The camera is sturdy and sits on chest of draws opposite cot and can be adjusted easily in all directions to get the perfect image. For the experienced mother, a quick check that your child is well is very reassuring and prevents alot creeping into rooms which always results in the chld seeing you anyway. A new mom may still go up and check but inbetween can still happily gaze at their baby without the fear of waking.
This is a great idea and I wouldnt be without it. Still use now she's 2 and in a big bed to check she hasnt got out of bed.
I know other monitors are available, my sister has a portable one no bigger than a phone but I love this one because of the size ! |
